Great Pumpkin Extravaganza

Once a year, we invite families to get into the season and bring out their creativity by creating and decorating pumpkins or gourds that represent characters from books in the library.

Contest Rules

  • You may use pumpkins or gourds to create your project. Fake pumpkins/gourds are also possible options.
  • Absolutely NO CARVED entries. Pumpkins/gourds that have carved or punctured skin will be disqualified and sent home that day.
  • Pumpkins should be no larger than 36 inches in circumference.
  • To decorate, you can use paper, glue, paint, or any other craft items on the pumpkin. Be creative! Also– this must be student work– parents may certainly help but supervision is best so that this is authentic student work
  • Projects must represent a character from a book (no TV characters!) appropriate for elementary school students.
  • Students choosing to participate must provide their own pumpkin and decorating materials.
  • An entry form must be turned in with the pumpkin (see below).
Pumpkins will be displayed in the library from Oct. 15-Oct 21st. All pumpkins must be taken home on Tuesday, October 22.

Students & staff will vote for their favorite pumpkin during the week.
