 Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at conferences. We truly believe that student success stems from a partnership between school and home.

Attached to this letter you will find information on Food and Nutrition Services A La Carte Offerings. If you would like to limit your child’s purchase of a la carte items (formerly known as the snack cart), please print and return the bottom portion.

As the weather changes, please remember that students go outside for recess if it is 17 degrees or above. Once we have snow, there will be days that students will have the opportunity to sled at lunchtime recess as long as they are wearing proper gear such as boots and snow pants!

Many of you know that our wonderful attendance secretary, Debbie Gonzales, will be retiring at the end of the school year in May. She has been here since the day Rooney Ranch opened the doors! She has been nominated as a “Life Changer”. You can find more information and add a comment at Lifechangeroftheyear.com. When on the website, click on “Nominees” and then click on Colorado (on right side of page), find Debbie’s picture and click on “View Nominee Details”, scroll to where you can add a comment!  Please share how Debbie has made an impact on you and your family.

We recognized National Bullying Prevention Month by having conversations in classrooms and students doing activities at home. It is not too late to send in any of the activities that were sent home in Friday folders. We will be having an evening assembly on November 12th from 6:30-7:30 as a celebration of all that was done during October. Students and parents are welcome at this event!. This is being sponsored by a sub-committee of our School Accountability Committee.

Please join us on October 31st for our annual Halloween Parade. We will begin at 8:45 and parties will follow until 9:45. Students should come to school in their costumes but need to bring a change of clothes. Please remember not to have weapons, sight impairing masks, or inappropriate gore.

Remember that Friday, November 2nd is a non-contact day for students. Teachers will be here for Professional Development, but students do not have school that day.

Looking ahead,  February 15th and March 15th are also non-contact days for students. Again, these days will be used for professional development for our teachers.

Please remember that our winter party will be the morning of December 21st from 8:30-9:30.

Safety Reminder:

We have had some issues on our buses with students not being safe i.e. pushing, not sitting properly in their seats, shouting out (which startles bus drivers), having pencils or other objects in hands and not in backpacks. We had teachers remind students of bus safety rules here at school, and if you could also follow that up with a reminder from you about how to be safe on the bus, we would appreciate it. We would also add that Rooney Ranch rules apply whether they are on a bus, walking to and from school or going to aftercare. Thank you for your support.

And lastly...parents please remember to check our Lost and Found for items possibly belonging to your children. Unclaimed items will be donated on November 2nd.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Beth Larson and DeAnn Hoffman
