June 2017

Dear families,
It is hard to believe the 2016-2017 school year is at an end! I would like to thank all of you for your support for your children, teachers, and school staff. We are truly a community that can make wonderful things happen!
If you had the opportunity to attend the Gala last week, I am sure you will agree that we are fortunate to have such an involved community. We have many great things to look forward to thanks to the hard work and dedication of our PTA, parents, and generous community members. On behalf of the entire staff, I thank each and every one of you. You are truly amazing.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Family Literacy Night. We are very excited to begin “One Book, One Rooney” as we head into summer break. Please look for a book that was sent home with each youngest or only child in K-5th grade. We really hope that you will read the book, James and the Giant Peach, as a family. This is a great way for all students and staff to have share a common experience so we are all connected when school begins in August. Please read with your family!
Please join me in wishing Mrs. Chavez, Ms. Nicholas, and Mrs. Oyler the best of luck as they move onto a new adventure in retirement! We will miss them at Rooney Ranch.
The Green Mountain area principals will be meeting with parents once school resumes to discuss the move of next year’s fifth graders to sixth grade at Dunstan Middle School for the 2018-2019 school year. We want to insure a smooth transition for all students.
I am excited to announce that we have hired Kelsey Skiles as our music teacher. Mrs. Skiles comes to us with 5 years of experience. She is very excited about joining our community. Mrs. DeAnn Hoffman will be joining us as a half time assistant principal. Mrs. Hoffman has been an evaluation coach for the district and has worked with our teachers for the past two years. We are happy to have her with us in a different capacity! We also welcome Michelle Williams to our teaching staff. She comes to us after teaching at Pennington Elementary for the past five years. We are also excited to welcome Vicky Maher as a teacher—she has been a fabulous substitute teacher, wonderful parent and valued community member.
Each of us at Rooney Ranch wish you a wonderful and safe summer. Enjoy time with your family and friends, it will be August before we know it!
