Race to Read

Race to Read Info Page
“Race to Read” is a six-week reading program designed to encourage reading at home. We hope you join us as we rev up our engines and support our student readers as they earn prizes for reading.
We have decided to start this program early so that students can easily record their reading minutes during remote learning.
We will tentatively run the program through April 24th, but play it by ear if the district sticks with the governor's decision of April 17th.
Normally, we are able to distribute prizes and the next coloring sheet, but with remote learning, we will run this a little differently. If you are unable to print the coloring sheet, just keep track of reading minutes and the student will receive 'credit' for every completed 4/8 hours of reading.

Students went home on Friday, March 13th with the first Race to Read coloring sheet.
For grades K-2: Students will color in one numbered area for every 15 minutes he or she reads, 4 hours of reading completes the sheet.
For grades 3-6: Students will color in one numbered area for every 30 minutes he or she reads, 8 hours of reading completes the sheet.

Click on the link below for the next following sheets to print, after they complete each one.

Race sheet #5 (you will continue to print this sheet for every additional 4/8 hours read for this program)

A parent signature is required for all coloring sheets.
Top K-1, 2-3, 4-5 and Top Overall Reader will receive a Race to Read t-shirt.
The TOP K-2 Reader and the TOP 3-5 Reader will be recognized with their name on the LED message board located on the tower in front of Bandimere Speedway during the NAPA Auto Parts “Night of Fire & Thunder” at Bandimere on (tentatively) Saturday, May 16th.
