It’s an honor to serve the Rooney Ranch school community as the Assistant Principal. I was a teacher for 9 years and I’m entering my 5th year as a school leader.
I earned my Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Denver and Bachelor’s in Applied Science (Physical Education) from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Our family lives in Littleton, with our oldest daughter a recent Columbine graduate and 3 other children who attend Jeffco Public Schools. I enjoy sports, reading and collecting sports cards with my boys.
I am proud to be at Rooney Ranch!

I'm really excited to join the Rooney Ranch community this year! I'm a Colorado native who grew up in Golden and attended Jeffco schools. I attended college in Portland, Oregon and then returned to the state I love to begin my career in education. This marks my 11th year on that journey, and I can't wait to support teaching and learning as the Instructional Coach. In my free time, I like to head to the mountains, see live music, and cheer on the Rockies.

I am a transplant from the East coast. Having grown up in the small town of Noank, Connecticut, I moved to Colorado in 1992. I began teaching in 1993 at Mount St. Vincent Home in Denver for a few years before becoming a Jefferson County teacher at Leawood Elementary School. I taught there for six years before coming over to Rooney Ranch Elementary. I have now been at Rooney for 15 years and love every day, as every day offers so many different opportunities. I have also been a softball and baseball coach at D’Evelyn High School since 1995. Coaching gives me the opportunity to work with both elementary and high school students. I continue to learn new teaching techniques on a daily basis. I love being at Rooney Ranch with all the students and staff that have made my teaching career such a wonderful experience.

It is my first year at Rooney. I’m so excited to join this wonderful team and school community to support Social Emotional Learning in the classroom as well as at home. Like Mr. Rooney, I am originally a farm girl from Iowa. I moved to Colorado in 2006 to earn my Masters in Community and School Counseling from Denver Seminary. I worked for 4 years as a school counselor in DPS and another 3 supporting counselors district-wide. I spent the last several years at home with my three beautiful girls. During this time, I was still supporting social emotional learning by supporting moms and coordinating speakers for a local MOPS group. My 4 year old twins now attend the preschool at Hutchinson along with my 6 year old, where I will also be part-time. Our family has been busy moving and painting and getting settled in to our new home and school community.

I've been a teacher at Rooney Ranch Elementary for 19 years (currently starting my 20th year). Throughout my career, I have taught several grades (first, second, third, and a 3rd/4th multi-grade class). I feel very fortunate to have been a teacher at this school my entire career. I can honestly say that the Rooney community (both staff and families who have attended our school) are like family to me. I'm truly lucky to have had the chance to work in such a supportive community. When I'm not teaching, I love spending lots of time with my sweet Italian greyhound/rat terrier dog, Cammi. She and I go on long walks and spend lots of time hiking in the beautiful Colorado mountains as often as we can. In addition to spending time with my pup, I love spending time with my family and friends.

While I still cheer for the Cowboys, the Broncos are my #1 team! I earned my teaching degree at Texas A&M University, where I met my husband, Craig. After graduating we moved to Colorado. I worked as a substitute teacher in Jeffco for several years, and I taught kindergarten at Hutchinson for one. We have two daughters in college and an 8th grade daughter at Dunstan Middle School. We are active with the Green Mountain HS Marching Band, though we are enjoying a couple relaxed fall seasons before our youngest enters high school. When I'm not working here, I can be found cheering on my son, a Junior at Lakewood HS, at his Ultimate Frisbee games, working out up at Red Rocks or advocating for strong public education here in Jeffco.
I was honored in 2016 to receive the Education Support Professional of the Year Award for the state of Colorado. Our students, who are my number one priority, the Rooney Ranch community and the amazing teachers who I've been blessed to work alongside are why I love my job and feel so passionately about the work that I do.
